Yobe State All Progressive Congress, APC, Singers Forum has suspended nine of its members over alleged disparaging comments against Governor Mai Mala Buni and some personalities in the state.
A statement signed by the chairman, Board of Trustees of the forum, Mamman Ali Masco, and the legal adviser, Barr Mustapha Hassan, in Damaturu, said the suspended members were dismissed for violating the constitution of the forum, causing unnecessary tension and unrest in the forum which subjected it to public abuses.
The forum in a statement said after a meeting by the Board of Trustee and a thorough consultation with relevant stakeholders and considering the gravity of their song and its attendant impact, the forum approved the dismissal the concerned members with immediate effect.
“Singing a song that conveys character assassination, disparaging very important person’s, ridiculed and caused a serious disrepute to the office and personality of Executive Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni”
“Your actions was in clear breached of Article 8 and 13 (2) of the constitution of Yobe State APC Singers Forum and other extant rules and regulations of the forum.
“Consequently, the Board of Trustees and the general members of Yobe APC Singers Forum distance and disassociate themselves with the above mentioned singers, as their actions doesn’t (sic) in anyway represent the core objective of the forum. And appropriate legal action would be taken in the shortest possible time for them to face the werth of law,” the statement said.
It added that those affected are Abubakar Mohammed Dunga, Suleiman Shehu Jafar (Madakin mawaka), Annur Potiskum, Fati Mohammed (Yobe)
Others are Bakura BK Potiskum, Mohd Dayyabu (Jitan Yobe), Izzudden Magaji Doko, Ismail Sani, and Maijidda Ali.
“I wish to inform you that this decision was taken in the best interest of the forum and the need to protect its sanctity and reputation respectively,” Masco said.
