The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken on Tuesday, disclosed that sucur is underway for families caught up in the six months conflict between Israeli and Hamas.
Blinken who made this know in a post on his x, stated that after meeting with families from Gaza, he was inundated by the suffering their love ones has endured.
He said the United States was working to get more aids into Gaza and ultimately secure immediate ceasefire as well as the release of hostages.
“Today I met with families from Gaza. I heard the suffering that they and their loved ones continue to endure. Some killed or wounded, others displaced.
“We are working tirelessly to get more aid to people in Gaza and secure an immediate ceasefire and release of hostages.”
Israel and Hamas have been at war since October 7, 2023. after Hamas gunmen crossed into Israel, killing about 1,200, including women and children.
in the surprised attack, Hamas took more than 250 Israelis as hostages.
Talks aimed at reaching a truce have stalled.
Hamas says it wants an end to the war with Israeli troops withdrawn from Gaza, and displaced people to return to their homes and an influx of aid.
But Israel declined, saying it cannot allow Hamas to remain in control of Gaza and that hostages must be released in return for a temporary pause in fighting.
Israel says it plans to invade the southern town of Rafah, where about 1.5 million Palestinians have crowded to escape fighting elsewhere.
