Kylian Mbappe has joined Real Madrid on a five-year deal, after weeks of announcing he was leaving Paris Saint-Germain in a video on X in May.
The new club on Monday, announced that “Real Madrid C. F. and Kylian Mbappe have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons,”
Mbappe posted photos of himself as a youngster wearing the club’s famous white kit, including one with Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Nobody can understand how excited I am right now”, said Mbappe – who called the move a “dream come true”.
It’s believed the confirmation was deliberately held until after Saturday’s Champions League final, which Real won 2-0.
The European champions are getting him on a free transfer and Mbappe will get a £85m bonus paid over five years, in addition to his £12.8m post-tax annual salary.
The star earlier told French President Emmanuel Macron the transfer was hours away from being made public when he visited a training camp on Monday.
Mbappe is widely regarded as one of the world’s best players but was unable to bring PSG the Champions League title its owners crave.
