Navy personnel, Cynthia Akor and her sister who were kidnapped from there Mpape, Abuja home have been reportedly released.
Daily Intel gathered that Akor, a lieutenant in the Nigerian Navy, was released around 1:30am at a location in Karu, a suburb in Abuja after payment of ransom.
The kidnappers were said to have contacted the victims family and demanded N100million ransom.
However, the victims family were said to have raised N4 million by Friday and Saturday night, leading to the release of both sisters on Sunday.
Another account said their release was due to joint security efforts. Daily Intel could not independently reconcile the claim.
Sources said the security forces recovered some cash from the fleeing suspects.
They were said to have abandoned starched cash, some personal effects like clothes as well as the victims when they realized that security forces were closing in on them.
It was further gathered that some relatives of the kidnappers suspected to have important information on their whereabouts and dealings have been taken into custody by the security forces.
One of the kidnappers’ mother and sister were currently being held by the security forces while the other one’s father and wife was also in custody and assisting operatives with intelligence.
