The Department of State Services, DSS, on Friday blocked Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team access to him in spite of the intervention by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen and a member of the House from Abia State, Obi Aguocha.
The development is also in violation of subsisting court order.
Recall that Aguocha had visited Mr Kanu at the DSS facility over the denial of his lawyers access to him.
Aguocha in a statement by his media team thanked Tajudeen for his intervention and assured that “A resolution was reached regarding the lack of access to Nnamdi Kanu by his legal team, who hereby are granted the requisite access to their client”.
Alloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Kanu who was at DSS facility with other members of the legal team raised the alarm over the latest round of denial.
Reacting to the development, Ejimakor vowed to reactivate all suspended legal actions aimed at enforcing compliance.
Ejimakor said, “Today, in a blatant & continuing disobedience of extant court order, the DSS barred the Legal Team of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from conducting a visitation with him.
“For this reason, all suspended legal actions to enforce compliance will proceed apace and with much vigour.”
Daily Intel recalls that his legal team has repeatedly accused the DSS of denying them access to Mr Kanu.
Daily Intel reported that following a motion filled by Ejimakor, the court threatened to jail Adeola Ajayi, the SSS director-general, if he continued to deny lawyers access to the IPOB leader.
