The leadership of Labour Party, LP, in Edo State on Tuesday lambasted some persons who invaded the party’s national secretariat in Abuja to demand the sack of the National Chairman, Julius Abure.
The state chapter of LP also pledged its readiness to rally support for its governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, towards ensuring victory in the coming election.
Briefing newsmen in Benin City, the state Caretaker Committee chairman, Elizabeth Ativie said the invaders were sponsored by some persons who do not wish the party well.
Ative, who said leaders and members of Labour Party in Edo State are strongly behind the national chairman, averred that those trying to divide the party should have a rethink and work for it to move forward in Nigeria.
“Those protesters were hired to undermine Labour Party as they were rented from a nearby market in Abuja.
“Abure is a jolly good fellow who has moved the party to an enviable height. “Under his leadership, we now have a governor, National and State Assembly members. Such a person should be well commended and congratulated,” Ative said.
She urged members of the party to promote a peaceful atmosphere and allow the party to win more positions ahead of the forthcoming election in Edo and others across the country.
