Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ,EFCC, on Saturday, raided an Abuja hotel owned by a Commissioner of police, said to be harbouring suspected internet fraudsters and other forms of criminals.
It was gathered that the EFCC in a mid night raid arrested several suspected internet fraudsters while others escaped from the hotel located on Arab road, Kubwa, a satellite town of Nigeria’s Capital.
The popular hotel known as Godfather ‘s Place is said to be owned by an Assistant Commissioner of Police serving in Rivers State.
A source and eyewitness said “The EFCC operatives acted on a tip off and stormed the place where the fraudsters and cultists hibernated on that day and arrested some of them. Others jumped the fence and there was panic while the operation lasted.
“The facility is owned by ACP Alex Udeze who is serving in Rivers State. The police authorities should also probe the facility because of several allegations around cult and criminal activities in the area,” another source added”. The source revealed.
Daily Intel Newspaper reported that the EFCC came under severe criticism from the public for paying more attention in the arrest of suspected internet fraudsters, while turning blind eyes on corrupt public officials, which is the core mandate of the anti-graft agency
The EFCC has since denied the allegation.
