The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has dismissed 27 officers over fraudulent activities and alleged misconduct.
The affected staff were dismissed following the recommendations of the commission’s staff disciplinary committee which was ratified by the anti-graft Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
In a statement released on Monday, Mr. Olukoyede emphasised that every allegation against EFCC staff would be thoroughly investigated, regardless of who was involved.
He stated that the commission under his watch is committed to upholding its core values, adding that no officer was immune to disciplinary action.
The Commission warned against impersonation adding that it would not tolerate anyone using the name of its Executive Chairman to extort money from high-profile individuals under investigation. It called on the public to report such act for immediate and decisive response.
“The public is urged to report any such fraudulent activities to the Commission immediately.
“The agency also acknowledged attempts by certain individuals to blackmail its officers through unethical means.
“These actions are often linked to suspects who, unable to compromise investigators, resort to baseless accusations. The EFCC advises the public to disregard such tactics and remain vigilant,” the statement said.
