Former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has met with former US President and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump over the assassination attempt on his life at the convention ground on Sunday.
The former prime minister who posted a photo of he and Trump took to his X handle on Tuesday to announce the meeting .
He said in a post that accompanied the photograph that the attempt on Trump’s life was “shameful“.
He revealed that during the meeting, they discussed the war in Ukraine, adding that he has no doubt that Trump Presidency would stand up to Russia and defend Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Johnson wrote: “Great to meet President Trump who is on top form after the shameful attempt on his life. We discussed Ukraine and I have no doubt that he will be strong and decisive in supporting that country and defending democracy.“
in another post on Monday, Johnson described the assassination attempt as tragic, saying it was a miracle that Trump escaped.
“It is a miracle that Donald Trump escaped an attempted assassination. As we give thanks for his safety we are reminded once again of the tragic fragility of democracy in the face of violence and unreason. Our thoughts are with the president and the Trump family.“ Johnson wrote
