Governor Abba Yusuf has made several key appointments and reassignments to strengthen governance and enhance public service delivery in Kano.
The appointments were announced in a statement on Tuesday. The appointments include Jamila Magaji-Abdullahi, who is the new accountant-general of Kano.
“Muhammad Yahaya Liman has been appointed as director of treasury. Akibu Isa Murtala was promoted to special adviser on administration in the Governor’s Office, tasked with coordinating administrative functions.
“Abubakar Sadiq, redeployed as deputy managing director of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), focusing on improving rural water supply and sanitation.
“Additionally, Yusuf has established a strategic committee to revive the Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line), chaired by Sa’idu Abdullahi-Shu’aibu,” said the statement.
It added that the committee would oversee the review and management of Kano Line’s operations over the next six months.
The committee members are Bello Abdul (Ministry of Public Procurement), Abdullahi Tukur (Ministry of Works and Housing), Badamasi Suleiman, and Kabiru Habibu Kyauta (Special Duties), who will serve as its secretary.
The governor urged the new appointees to work tirelessly, emphasising innovation, dedication, and accountability in their new roles.
He added, “These appointments and initiatives demonstrate the administration’s commitment to fostering development, enhancing public service, and positioning Kano State as a model of effective governance.”
