The first lady, represented by wife of the vice president, Hajiya Nana Shettima, said Mrs Lau was not only a great loss to her family and friends but to the entire women.
She noted that Hajiya Lau has contributed her best positively towards impacting, protecting and projecting the image of women across the nation.
Senator Tinubu, who is the grand patron of NCWs, Mrs Lau had contributed her best positively towards impacting, protecting and projecting the image of women across the nation.
“She has done her part. As a Muslim I know that there is time for everything and every living soul must test death, but on behalf of NCWS I will like to extend our sincere condolences to all the families across and to the immediate family.
“As far as we know, Hajia (Lau) has almost completed her mission. There’s no time first lady will do a project without granting a slot to her.
“My first encounter with her was during our campaign with our dear husbands.
“The Excellency sighted her and turned and said this woman seems to be someone I will like to work with and to be sincere, she really accommodated her, really giving her the nod for her to move and actualise her dreams,” the first lady said.
Speaking, the minister of Women Affairs and Youth Development, Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye expressed sadness Hajiya Lau’s death.
According to her, “So many women have failed to understand me but I’m trying my best.
“As time goes we will be understanding ourselves better because everybody comes with his or her own style.
“As the president that employed me has his own vision which is Renew Hope Agenda, with time we will understand better, but somehow things are not exactly how it use to be before; so if I have offended you in anyway please forgive me.
“Let me use this opportunity of paying the last respect to the president of NCWS to say I’m sorry and if I am to offend you again or I wouldn’t because I still have my passion which I’m still pursuing, please forgive me for the future one. We are all women and must stand for each other.
“Whether we like it or not things must change. We must stand for one another.”
In her speech at the occasion, former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Tallen said the the period of Mrs Lau’s death is a very painful one.
She expressed sadness that it was the first time NCWS is experiencing the death its sitting president.
“This is the first time we are experiencing the loss of president since 1958.
“I joined NCWS in 1984 and I rose from the state. I formed the local government NCWS in all the local government areas when Nasarawa was under plateau in1986.
“I am a life member of NCWS also the BoT member representing North Central. I want to thank Boss Mustapha and president of old boys for coming here to share with us this moment.
“I have to pay a tribute to a very great woman, a very tough task. As if she knew she was going to die by organising one of the best conventions. Very committed. So appreciative of the turn out.
