The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has called on residents of the Southeast region to disregard the sit-at-home order issued by an unknown group, urging them to go about their normal activities.
Recall that an audio and video messages circulated on social media by an unknown group declared two days sit-at-home in the region starting from Monday, October 21, to Tuesday, October 22.
The unidentified group which warned residents to avoid the streets also advised parents and guardians to keep their children away from school.
Additionally, market and shop owners were cautioned against opening their businesses during this period.
The messages included threats against anyone who does not comply with the sit-at-home order.
But in a statement released on Monday, IPOB clarified that the order did not emanate from it.
The pro-Biafra group urged residents of the region to go about their normal activities.
The statement which was signed IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful said, “IPOB did not declare any sit-at-home order on October 21 and 22.
“The illegal order is from criminal elements and Finland-based infiltrators who are not our members”.
He continued, “Biafrans must understand that IPOB does not declare unnecessary sit-at-home.
“We have since suspended it and anybody declaring it is a criminal element that should be ignored.
“We didn’t want to talk about it again to avoid giving undue popularity to the inconsequential order from Finland-based infiltrators,” Powerful added.
