The Lagos State police have arrested popular musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.
The musician was arrested on Tuesday for his inability to pay up the balance of a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon he bought from a car dealer in the state.
Portable was said to have paid N13 million for the SUV worth N27 million and refused to pay the car dealer the N14 million balance.
PUNCH Online is reporting that Portable, during the purchase of the vehicle worth N27m, paid only N13m and had refused to pay the N14m balance.
After efforts to get the balance from the singer failed, the car dealer complained to the police and Portable was subsequently arrested.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, saying, “I can confirm that. He was arrested for the failure to pay the debt he owed, that is his G-Wagon. He deliberately refused to pay the balance. And that is up to N14 million.”
