Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has commiserated with the Nigeria Union of Journalists as well as the Correspondents Chapel in Kano over the death of Punch Newspapers correspondent, Ted Odogwu.
The governor in a statement on Monday by his spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, said Odogwu’s death was a big loss, noting that his decades-long experience helped shape the media landscape in Kano and beyond.
“The governor, on behalf of the government and good people of the state, extend heartfelt condolences to the families and professional colleagues of the deceased”.
Odogwu’s death was announced on Monday by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano State Council.
Chairman of the Chapel, Aminu Garko, described Odogwu as a committed journalist who served the profession with distinction.
The statement read, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved member, Mr. Ted Odogwu, a dedicated correspondent of The Punch Newspapers.
“On this somber occasion, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, The Punch Newspapers, and the public.
“Mr. Odogwu was a respected and valued member of our Chapel, known for his exceptional journalistic skills and unwavering commitment to the pursuit of truth. His contributions to our union will be deeply missed.”
The union extended its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and the management of The Punch Newspapers.
“May his legacy live on, and may his family find solace in the memories of his remarkable life and career. May his soul rest in peace. Amen,” the statement concluded.
