Leadership of the National Council of Women Societies, NCWS, has officially announced the passing on of its national president, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau.
Lau was said to have passed on in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness.
National publicity secretary of NCWS, Mrs Inumibun Taiwo disclosed Hajiya Lau’s demise in a statement made available Daily Intel in Abuja today.
According to the statement, Mrs Lau will be laid to rest today in her hometown in Lau, Taraba State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
It added that further arrangements and details of the funeral rights will be communicated later.
“With profound sorrow, we regret to announce the passing of our beloved national president, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau. She departed this life in the early hours of today, June 5, 2024, after a brief illness.
“Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, a dedicated leader and champion of women’s empowerment, will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her tireless efforts and contributions to the betterment of our society will never be forgotten.
“We mourn the loss of our dear leader and friend, and we pray that God grants us the strength and grace to bear this irreparable loss. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” Mrs Taiwo announced in the statement.
Hajiya Lau was born in 1962 and lived a fulfilling life of 62 years, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and motivate us all, the statement further said, as it extended the council’s condolences to her family, friends and all members of the NCWS.
