Ousted Chief Whip of the Senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume has rejected the chairmanship of the Committee on Tourism offered him.
Senator Ndume disclosed this during an interview with journalists in his residence in Maiduguri, Borno State, Friday evening.
According to him, “I want to use this opportunity to inform you that. I have spent more than 10 years without going to any foreign countries. I don’t have experience to be a chairman committee on tourism.
“Let me tell you that, as for the chairman Senate Committee on Tourism offered to me, I want to say that I am not a tourist and not good in tourism. I don’t have interest on the chairmanship. I totally rejected the position.
“I’m not happy the way Nigeria is going. People are suffering from one place to another. There’s too much poverty, hunger in the land. I’m a democrat and a realist, someone who always says the truth no matter what. I’m not blaming Tinubu’s government; I only said the truth,” he said.
Ndume, who called on his supporters and well-wishers to continue giving their support and cooperation to President Bola Tinubu for the interest of the nation, said he kept quiet over his deposition as the Senate chief whip because he was mourning the death of a relative.
He disclosed that he would consult with his constituents on whether to leave the All Progressives Congress, APC, or not, as he did before he left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to form the current ruling party.
