Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley on Wednesday anounced she is exiting the Republican presidential race, leaving former President Donald Trump as the party’s presumptive nominee, Daily Intel have learnt
Haley said in a speech penultimate Wednesday that “The time has now come to suspend my campaign“ following series of losses in GOP nominating contests.
Haley did not however endorse Trump, Instead, she called on the former president to earn the support of voters who backed her.
Haley, who was Trump’s US ambassador to the United Nations had vowed to stay in the race, but had little hope of keeping pace with former president Trump.
Haly’s exit demonstrated how Republican voters base remained loyal to Trump.
“I have never seen the Republican Party so unified as it is right now,” Trump reportedly told supporters at his election night party in South Carolina.
