Federal Capital Territory, FCT, chapter of Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Indigo has commended President Bola Tinubu on his bold decision to Assent to the Bill establishing South-East Development Commission, SEDC, to tackle erosion menace and other developmental challenges facing the region.
The Bill for establishment of the commission was sponsored by the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hin. Benjamin Kalu and other lawmakers from the region.
Reacting to the president’s approval for the interventionist commission, the FCT chapter of Ohanaeze in a statement on Wednesday signed by its president, Mazi Eze Primacy Okadigbo, said the president’s assent to the Bill which now marks the creation of the commission is a testament to President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and commitment to unity, equity and progress.
Okadigbo observed that Ndigbo have been marginalised for 57 years through exclusion from Nigeria’s development process.
“I, Eze Primacy Okadigbo, president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo FCT, on behalf of the entire Ndigbo community in the Federal Capital Territory, warmly commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the historic establishment of the South-East Development Commission, SEDC.
“This groundbreaking initiative is a testament to President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and commitment to unity, equity, and progress. For 57 years, our people have felt marginalized and excluded from the country’s development trajectory. Today, we celebrate a new dawn, as the President’s bold move has brought hope and healing to our region.
“The SEDC is a long-awaited answer to our prayers, and we are grateful for the President’s willingness to address the injustices of the past. We pledge our full support to the Commission and assure the President of our cooperation in ensuring its success.
“We thank President Tinubu for acknowledging the plight of Ndigbo and taking concrete steps to address our developmental challenges
“President Tinubu Has demonstrated his commitment to unity and equity by healing the 57-year-old wound of our people,” Okadigbo said.
He urge all Ndigbo to rally behind the president’s administration and work together towards a brighter future for the South-East and Nigeria.at large.
