Federal Capital Territory, FCT, chapter of the apex pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has congratulated the new National Executive Council of the organisation, Senator John Azuta-Mbata.
Senator Azuta-Mbata emerged victorious in an election held in Enugu on Friday, January 10, 2025.
The new Ohanaeze leader, who represented Rivers East Senatorial District in National Assembly from 1999 to 2007, made history as the first Igbo of Ikwerre extraction in Rivers State to lead the apex Igbo body.
In a congratulatory message signed and made available to the media, the FCT president of Ohanaeze, Chief Eze Primacy Okadigbo urged the new National Executive Council of the body to synergise with Igbos in Diaspora and other key organisations to drive socio-economic development in Igboland.
“Hearty congratulations to Senator Azuta John Mbata on his election as the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and to the newly elected National Executive Committee! This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering that Senator Mbata is the first leader from Rivers State to hold this position
“As you embark on this new journey, I advise the executive committee to seek greater synergy with Umuigbo worldwide. Collaboration and unity are key to driving meaningful progress and advancement for the Igbo community.
“Senator Mbata’s extensive experience in governance and public service will undoubtedly be invaluable in tackling critical issues affecting the Igbo community, including unity, socio-economic development, security, and political representation,” Okadigbo said.
He prayed that Azuta-Mbata’s tenure would be marked by remarkable achievements and growth for the Igbo nation.
