The Abia State government has announced plans to boost the State’s education sector and to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture Okey Kanu said as part of its reform programme for the sector, the Otti’s government would train 2,000 master trainers for teachers. He said 200 teachers had passed the training, with 1,800 to be trained later.
The commissioner in a statement said the posting of personnel of the Abia State Vigilante Service to public schools is part of the larger sectoral measure aimed at safeguarding life and property accros schools. He said: “This is part of the wider agenda of the state government to reform our education system.“
Also as part of the ongoing reform agenda in the educational system,“ the promise that the state government has made in the past has come to fulfilment with the posting of security personnel to our schools.“
