Governor Alex Otti-kind of Abia State at the weekend joined friends and associates of Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme to celebrate elevation to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Justice Nwosu-Iheme, a brilliant, thorough and courageous jury who holds a PhD in Law from the University of Lagos, was on December 6, 2023, nominated to the Supreme Court and sworn in on February 26, 2024.
Fondly called “Madam Justice” by close friends due to her courage after being kidnapped by some unscrupulous elements on October 30, 3019, as the presiding judge of the Court of Appeal, Benin Division, Nwosu-Iheme is the second female judge from Imo State to be elevated to the apex court of Nigeria, after Justice Mary Peter-Odili.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary of the Abia governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, while speaking at the grand reception in her honour in Owerri, Governor Otti extolled the virtues of the erudite female jury as an amazon and shinning star on the bench.
He applauded Justice Nwosu-Iheme for attaining the pinnacle of the legal profession.
The occasion was graced by the governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who was the chief host; Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, and the deputy governor of Imo State, Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru. Former governors present at the occasion were Owelle Rochas Okorocha and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Also present at the event was elder statesman, l General Ike Nwachukwu (rtd), Amon other dignitaries.
