The Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has mourned the death of former News Editor of the defunct Sketch Newspaper, Mr Olusakin Babalola, who died at the age of 73.
The NUJ described his death as devastating, saying it is a great loss.
The Secretary of the Oyo NUJ, Olusola Oladapo who offered the Council’s condolence on behalf of the Chairman, Demola Babalola, commiserated with the Babalola family, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
An active Ibadan, Oyo state-based journalist, late Babalola was a native of Ipetumodu in Ife North Local Government Area. He died in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Babalola, who was once the Editor of Oodua News newspaper, died in the early hours of Wednesday at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan after some battle with kidney disease.
The deceased had worked with some national dailies, such as Newswatch Daily, Leadership Newspaper and Legit.com, an online news platform. He was, until his demise, the publisher of Spheres News Online, based in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
