The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has threatened to sanction former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying no one individual is above the party.
In a press conference in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba assured the party would implement the report of the reconciliation and disciplinary committees to the latter, adding that no one is bigger than the party.
He said ” What I can tell you is that nobody is above this party. It is the People’s Democratic Party.
“What we have done is set up bodies (reconciliation and disciplinary committees) and given them the mandate to do the job. We will wait for their report,” he added.
The party constituted the committee after Wike issued a threat at party’s state congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
Wike at the Congress held in the party’s secretariat warned PDP governors to avoid interfering in the party’s matters in Rivers State saying he would “put fire in their states.”
He said “Let me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of the PDP from us. But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody.”
He said governors interfering with matter concerning Rivers PDP should know that he have the capacity to set their states on fire.
