A former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has donated 10 computers and printers to Saint Augustine College, Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa State.
Speaking at the presentation in Yola on Saturday, Mr Obi said that the gesture was to help students acquire more knowledge in Information and Communication Technology.
He said, “Today, we are talking about technology, therefore, our children need to be empowered with technological skills for them to excel.’’
According to him, the computers will help them to get more skills at their basic level.
Also, Principal of the college, Rev. Fr. Moses Maaji, thanked and appreciated Obi for the gesture and promised to make good use of the computers for the benefit of the students.
In his remarks, Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Bishop Stephen Mamza, appreciated Obi for the donation and contribution for the development of education in the country.
According to him, the visit of Mr Obi and the donations are not because of politics but a gesture to promote education of young people to succeed in future.
He added that the computers would help to facilitate the learning process for the intended purpose.
