Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for one Emmanuel for allegedly killing his landlord over house rent in Arigbabu Village of the state.
The suspect, who is now on the run, was said to have had an argument with his landlord, one Apeh Benjamin, over unpaid house rent.
The launched a manhunt on the suspect after the daughter of the deceased lodged a report that an argument ensued between her father and Emmanuel over unpaid rent leading to his demise.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday, said the deceased collapsed during a hot argument with the suspect who was threatening to kill his landlord for asking him to pay his rent.
She said her father was later rushed to NNPC Hospital, Mosimi, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty while the suspect took to his heels.
Odutola said efforts are on to arrest the runaway suspect as detectives led by SP Temitope Fapohunda had visited the scene and took photographs, adding that further updates will be communicated.
The police spokesperson informed that the deceased’s body was deposited at OOUTH Morgue in Sagamu for preservation.
