TikTok is back online in the US after the social media giant abruptly shutdown minutes before the Sunday supreme court ban takes effect.
The reversal was prompted by President-elect Donald Trump’s promise to halt the ban when he takes office Monday by extending a deadline that could allow the app to reach a deal and continue to remain in the US.
Daily Intel recalled that the US supreme court had upheld the ban of Tik Tok in the US over national security concern.
While welcoming users shortly after restoring service, Tik Tik sent a popup message that states: “Welcome back!” adding, “As a result of President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.”
TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is planning on attending Trump’s pre-inauguration victory rally in D.C., which is set to begin shortly.
According to reports, Chew plans to attend the inauguration itself, alongside tech billionaires Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.
