A Zamfara State indigene simply identified as Bashir has vowed to lead the State’s EndBadGovernanceInNigeria planned protest despite being physically assaulted in a video circulating on social media.
in the said video, one of attackers was heard prodding Bashir to back down on leading the protest while delivering bodily assault on him as he asked “Are you the one leading #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest in Zamfara state?” Bashir responds, “Yes.”
“ I am the leader of Zamfara youth and I am the one spearheading the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest coming up on the 1st of August 2024.”
The attacker prodded “Will you withdraw from the protest or not?” Bashir firmly replies, “Sincerely, I will not withdraw from the protest.”
When asked why he is leading the protest, Bashir explains, “It is because of bad governance and I feel our leader has cheated us enough. I’m the leader of Zamfara state youths because they trusted me. We will protest because the government has cheated us enough.”
Despite the assault, Bashir remains defiant, saying, “I’m ready to go wherever you will take me to, I will not withdraw from the protest. Unless you kill me, I will not back out from the protest.”
The video ends with Bashir reiterating, “The video I did earlier about the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria is nothing but the truth because the government is not fair to us. Unless you kill me, I will not withdraw from the protest.”
There has been moves by the federal government, notable groups and individuals to avert the August 1 planned protest against economic challenges faced by Nigerians as well as bad leadership.
But the protest leaders who have remained faceless are insisting on going on with the protest.
